Repair Advice Needed Please

Post by calkar217 »

First off, Please don't yell at me as I couldn't locate a misc or repair section to post this in.

I need some advice please, I have a Remington 540X that has some accuracy problems. I believe these are headspace related, maybe more. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith who specializes in this area or this rifle and that guarantees their work?

Thanks so very much in advance.

Evelio is my first thought, but there are several tier one gunsmiths here. Where are you located, what state?

One who specializes in this series is Brian Voelker. ([email protected]). You can discuss the details of his business practices with him.

He's done a couple triggers for me, I'm very happy with this work. While he's done no other work for me, but you can go over to RimfireCentral.com and read others opinions.

Contact Evelio (follow his ad at the top of the page), then look here for a list of other folks that can at least point you to someone if this isn't their kind of project. There are formulas that get consistent results from solid rifles but guaranteed work is difficult since every rifle is different, and rifles that already have trouble... 'Smiths are usually pretty careful with expectations.

Brian Voelker has very good word of mouth on Rimfire Central, but I can't personally vouch for him.

I know I don't post here much....been too busy reading all of the past posts, but I can say that Brian Voelker did an excellent job accurizing my 541X. He's knows the 540/541 series rifles very well, as well as many others of course. I have his phone number if necessary.

From everything I've read and seen on here I'm sure Evelio's top shelf as well.

Karen, I believe I know an accomplished shooter who can evaluate your 540X. Bring it along on Tuesday night to the CLA cowboy match, along with the ammo you have been trying, and I'll make arrangements for this fellow to help you out. Al F.
