Dot Size - Best Dot sized in 6.5-20 x44 EFR

Post by Phill Smyth »

G'day Guys and Gals -
I am a 63 - 56 model that needs reading glasses 1.5 to 2 lenses.

I have a couple of Boosted Premier 18-40's x44 Leopold's with what I thought was 3/8" dot- I just had two scopes that I recently purchased installed with 3/8" Leupold dots and they are smaller than the premier Boosted ones - which must be 1/2" - I like the Premiers - the 3/8" seem a whisker small compared to the Premiers.
My question is, what are allyouall's thoughts on dot size in 6.5 -20 x 44 EFRs - for
a. Air,
b. Small-bore /Rimfire 22Lr
c. Centre fire /High power -

I suggest that you shoot the same scope power and the same dot size in every silhouette discipline you shoot. It is important that your brain see as close to the same thing as possible every time you shoot - from the size of the target to the speed of your movement to the size of your dot.

The dot size is personal preference. I like 1/2 MOA. You should shoot whatever you are most comfortable with as long as you dont have to struggle to find the dot.
