Does anybody know the weight of a Remington 40x .22 long rifle single shot action and bolt?

The one I have is right at 33 oz. with action, bolt, jewell trigger and lug. Hope this helps with your build.

I used a Hart 24", medium sporter @ around .68 (I think) at the muzzle. With a maple stock it makes hunter weight with ease using a 6.5-20 EFR, Weaver double strap rings and bases.

Grizz has one that Gary sold him, it has a good sized barrel and still makes weight.

I don't know that particular stock, but unless it's a lot heavier than it sounds like it will be you should make hunter weight with a fair amount of room to spare. I know people with heavier taper barrels than that that are at least a few inches longer that make weight for hunter with lightweight stocks like the Pharr and Wooster designs.

It's all going to come down to the barrel taper, mine has the 24" target barrel, no way it would make 8.5 lbs.

Mine has the original standard bbl on it, cut and crowned back to 21"... PTG fluted aluminum striker and shroud... and a bare-bones Pharr stock at 23oz. to make weight with a 24X Weaver. It can be done.
