Took the Plunge and bought a 1712 Annie for Smallbore rifle , So now old faithfull may end up doing a different job .
For Smallbore rifle 2 events are listed
- Small bore rifle light - open sights ( Only V sights allowed)
-Small bore Rifle Silhouette -Open Sights ( Apperture or V sights allowed)
Targets used are Smallbore Handgun Targets.
C - 40m
P - 60m
T - 77m
R- 100m
So here is a basic setup that the Marlin will grow into. Walther Short Tunnel Diopter , .5-2mm Iris and 3.8mm front sight .

This is a good thread to read about our iron sights smallbore matches. They're lots of fun. http://forums.steelchickens.com/viewtop ... ron+sights.African Villager wrote:Took the Plunge and bought a 1712 Annie for Smallbore rifle , So now old faithfull may end up doing a different job .

Open sights is a fairly new(2yr) item and also gaining lots of momentum because it is uncomplicateddustinflint wrote:This is a good thread to read about our iron sights smallbore matches. $250-400 rifle and brick of ammo and youre good to go . In Time it will also get more Technical and more competitive and so will the equipment and will see all sorts of Olympic grade Tackle that one has to compete with . With telescopic sights white coloured Silhouettes work well , with sights black targets are better .
With V sights one seems more limited with point of aim vs point of impact compared to aperture sights on sighting the targets . So as we go along with this format of the game there will be some key learnings and preferances . Some of the ex freestyle rifle squad are finding this game a little harder than they thought because they never really have had to deal with varying impact points at the various distances as their sport is 50m and that's it .
splitting this category in Light and Silhouette class creates a environment where any small bore with sights can have a place.
Very funny to see farm boys shoot 20-25/40 with a 30jr old Brno(CZ) and the bling brigade 12-16/40 with Anschutz target rifles .
bullet drop seems the biggest factor for me at least at this point , since the targets are slightly bigger want to have a test with High Velocity as 50m 66m 77m
will fall in the same trajectory range +- grouping will be slightly wider but so is the targets.
