Re: SBCL Dry Fire Practice Targets

@Dustinflint I would likely be practicing in my living room to keep things quick and easy. I figure 2 to 3 meters between a target on the wall and where I would stand. Given that, is there a formula I am forgetting that I could use (along with some back of the napkin math) to determine the proper s...

Re: SBCL Dry Fire Practice Targets

I haven't had much luck finding anything in my web searches so I am hoping y'all can give me a hand. I am looking for ways to dry fire practice in between SBCL matches at home. I need help figuring out what scale paper targets would be an approximation to what we shoot at matches so I am looking at...

Re: Big Changes

Jason, I see what you're saying but I don't see where you've proposed an alternative that you'd like to see. I can't stand the scorebooks. They are a bunch of extra work for match directors that don't provide any real value. The only practical purpose of the scorebook is to keep up with classificati...

Re: Big Changes

Getting rid of the books while making it easy on the match directors seems easy to me: Step 1: Create a database at the NRA with each shooter's current classification and the number of scores he/she has in the next classification. (they apparently already have this) Step 2: Require every shooter to ...

Re: louisiana lever gun match

Congrats to state champions Robert Massey (who beat Bruce Finley in a shootoff for the Smallbore championship) and William Zander (who beat Emmett Dibble in a shootoff for the Pistol Cartridge championship). The Grand Aggregate state championship standings are close! We'll see what happens tomorrow!...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

First high power silhouette is the most challenging sport out there. Dealing with recoil is part of the game, if you do not like the recoil start a different game. Please don't change the game we love! Secondly if the rams in Oklahoma and Texas were set to NRA specifications then congrats on the re...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

There are several places around the country that don't have the money, or free labor, or materials to build target stands exactly as the rule book prescribes. They use the materials and target that are available, even if they are not perfect, they're beat up, they're 50 years old, etc. We prefer to ...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

Dan, Come on over to the 6mm dark side; it's great over here. Bring John too. We've got the best bullets, and brass and powders... anything you desire can be yours in exchange for just a few rams. Have a seat at our table. We're not as bad as everyone says. Pay no attention to the strange fellow sit...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

By the way the handgun shooters have been doing what is suggested in rule 4.2 for a good 40 years and I do not think that it would be a bad idea that we followed suit and asked the rule makers that 4.2 rule should include HP rifle silhouette but only as it is now, merely as a suggestion for those s...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

Thank you very much for the kind words, Dan. Just to clear something up that I've seen written several times here. I didn't say what I said about the Rams in an effort to get anyone to accommodate my caliber choice. I have other calibers available that work great on Rams and I shoot them just fine. ...

Re: HOLYCOW Dustin

Congrats to Dustin on some outstanding shooting!! I primarily shoot handgun silo. Not trying to hijack this thread, but since it was brought up......can someone tell me why nobody shoots the 7br? Is ram knockdown power the only reason? or refer me to the proper thread....Thanks.... Again, great sho...
