Re: 2011 Texas Nationals

Dustin I see you are planning to make it to this match. I was thinking about it myself, not sure Jeaux can make it right now. As for the State Assoc. fee deal we only paid $10 I think to the TX association for the SB state match in March. They gave us some sort of reciprocation for being LSA member...

Re: 2011 Texas Nationals

Mary, I'm not complaining about the fee, I just need to know how much to make my check for. I really don't understand why any match, in Louisiana, Texas or another state, would force anyone to join an association to shoot in the match. I race bicycles all over the country and I've never been to a ra...

Re: 2011 Texas Nationals

Pat,

Do non-Texas shooters have to get a $25 annual membership to TSRA to attend the match?

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

Dee,

Jerry told me about some 7-08 loads that he is very excited about - but after about 5 minutes he was way over my head. I'll clarify everything in the morning.

I left a message on your phone. Bring your gun tomorrow!!

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

The 7mm Guru will be happy that I'll start off with 7mm-08. I might be so impressed that it'll stay that way through the new barrel. There has to be a reason that everyone seems to like the 6.5mm guns though...

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

Everyone, Thanks for all the great advice. I'm going to throw this 7-08 barrel on for now and make a decision when it comes time to customize the rifle some. it seems like the 6.5x47 and the 6.5x55 are both good choices. There is certainly lots of opportunity to spend money and experiment in this ga...

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

What are the pros and cons between the 6.5x47 and the 6.5x55 for silhouette? I have a 260; it's great but my barrel is very light and thin, too small for the repeated shots of silhouette.

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

That makes sense to me. It seems like the only issue with a short action caliber in a long action is feeding from the magazine. I originally wasn't worried about that, thinking that I'd just shoot it single shot, until Jeaux burst my bubble and referred me to the section of the rule book where it re...

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

Thanks Jim, great info. Sounds like 6.5x47 in long action is the long-term plan.

Re: Long action HP silhouette rig?

Thanks for the info, Mary. I've talked to Jerry at length about the HP subject (and all other silhouette subjects) but we haven't discussed the long action question because I just remembered that this rifle exists! I had forgotten all about it. Jerry and I are riding to Mississippi together to a mat...

Thanks for the reply! Out of those calibers, which do you recommend?

Long action HP silhouette rig?

I have a Rem Model 700 30-06 that I haven't shot in a few years and dont plan to ever shoot again. It may as well become a doner action for a HP silhouette rig. The problem is that it's, of course, long action. My question is, what should I do to it?? I thought of going with a long action .260 but I...
