Re: Leupold 25x40

I hope are correct and Leupold has not abandoned the FX3 series of rifle scopes. Some of Leupold's new models are interesting, but they may have already discontinued some VX3i models while new models keep coming out. I hope they know where they're trying to go because it would be awful to see a qua...

Re: Leupold 25x40

You may have noticed that Leupold replaced the VX3 product line with the VX3i, consolidated the VX1 and most of the VX2 lines into the Freedom series, and they've even updated their high-end models. It will take a while for the chaos to clear, in their product line and probably management, too. Low ...

Re: Leupold Custom Shop expanding features

I may be misinformed. I am/was under the impression that Leupold scopes without the "Gold Ring" had sourcing from outside the US. The poor quality I saw with several non "Gold Ring" scopes made it believable to me that they were made in China. That's the same understanding I have always had. Lenses...

Re: Leupold Custom Shop expanding features

You've got me confused (easily done). What Leupold scopes are made outside the US?

Re: Lones Wigger on Silhouette scopes

Several years ago, my favorite budget scope was the Weaver KT15 - Lones might approve.

Re: New Tikka .22 rimfire

Will the heavy barrel meet Hunter Rifle rules? From reading the specs, either rifle will make weight but the heavy barrel will probably have a cylindrical barrel without any taper, so it would only qualify for the standard class. If I'm reading it right the 20" barrel is tapered, so it would qualif...

You're right! I expect their supply to stay tight well into the summer, though!

Re: Are Silhouette Rifles Expensive?

I still shoot my Ruger 77/22 that I bought back in 2004 with no intention of ever buying anything better because it still shoots better than I do. What he said. You shoot a Ruger 77/22 also? I have always wanted to try one of those but I never broke down and bought one. I would probably still shoot...

Re: Are Silhouette Rifles Expensive?

Or: CZ 455 - $400.00 Talley Rings - $53.00 Leupold VX-2 6-18x40 Target - $469.00 Ammunition - $50.00 for a brick of 500, or $500 for a case of 5,000 You can have it tuned by any one of several competent gunsmiths, upgraded, and customized. Or you can shoot it as is for a very long time. The nice thi...

Thanks for the info, Al!

Al; The closeout pricing on Tikka T3's makes them almost irresistible values for custom a build. It's even tempting to just hoard a Forrest for some future project, especially now that I know Lilja has a barrel properly contoured for the stock. Swap the barrel, bed it, and go shoot! For that matter,...

Re: Tikka Build

How much truing did the T3 action need? What trigger (I'm assuming the T3 trigger, but we know how assume goes)? What brass and primer?

And yes, it's funny how age changes our understanding of a good time.

Re: 6BR vs .243 Winchester

Reading through this thread, it stood out that at least a couple of you are building on the Tikka T3 action. Since the T3 is so good to start with, it sounds like a great idea, but it surprised me and I'd like to hear more about your experiences with it in a separate thread. I've learned to be more ...

Re: Flinch!

Small bore practice killed my high power flinch! Over time, firing a lot of .22 rounds allowed my flinch to extinguish, so when I picked up a high power the recoil was a surprise. After awhile, my expectations adjusted and I learned this kind of recoil was a little different from the beating deliver...
